POSITION: Senior Human Resources Manager


Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice-President of Operations, the Senior Human Resources Manager will be accountable for executing a full range of People Services to attract, engage and retain employees while supporting the Credit Union’s growth.

Generalist Responsibilities:
• Provide support in the areas of performance management, employee retention, HR metrics, compensation, policy development, and implementation.
• Collaborate with partners/leaders to identify issues and develop and execute action plans across all areas of the business strategy including diversity, development, performance management, and rewards and recognition
• Anticipate and assess the gaps between business needs and people capabilities and drive appropriate actions.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives, ensuring a focus on building and maintaining a high-performing culture and a diverse and inclusive environment
• Provide expertise, consultation, and coaching to managers on how to solve work-related problems; drive engagement and optimize employee effectiveness.
• Provide ad-hoc support and projects as requested by senior managers and the leadership team
• Assist with policy development and ensure compliance with policy legislation
• Champion HR initiatives that support the organization’s goals and reinforce a collaborative and engaged culture
• Review and if necessary, revise the performance management program and provide training on the same

Talent Acquisition:
• Drive talent acquisition strategies that attract talent into the organization to strengthen the organization’s capabilities and meet current and future business needs
• Build strong tangible networks and develop productive working relationships with hiring managers and business leaders to understand talent requirements.
• Inform sourcing and recruitment activities by maintaining, analyzing, and utilizing accurate recruitment metrics.
• Educate hiring managers on the recruitment process; timeline, roles, and responsibilities, as well as, promote candidate diversity
• Proactively source talent for all open requisitions and actively pursue passive recruiting strategies, including continually building a pipeline of candidates
• Analyze industry trends to better understand the external hiring market as it relates to client needs and unique recruiting opportunities
• Review all applicant resumes and sources for fit with position description and requirements; ensure a diverse candidate pool is presented
• Effectively screen & interview all qualified applicants, and make recommendations for hiring managers for interview selection
• Review monthly/quarterly recruitment metrics including the weekly status reports of open positions and align to metrics for measurement of success
• Ensure a seamless onboarding process delivering a positive and efficient candidate experience
• Support other HR and Talent related projects and perform relevant HR administrative tasks as required.

Talent Development:
• Lead the development and implementation of the organization’s Graduate Career Development Program, providing new graduates with hands-on experience, mentorship, and in-depth training
of the institution’s products and services.
• Identify best practices to attract and retain qualified graduates in the program while providing a clear path for career progression.
• Create a project plan to enable program participants to undergo rotational training in all areas of the organization.
• Collaborate with management to create a positive and rewarding experience for all program participants.

Experience and Qualifications:
• University degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline
• A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
• Solid leadership, coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills with proven ability to deal with senior leaders
• Strong understanding of sourcing and recruitment techniques and methods.
• Expert-level experience using external candidate databases, job boards, and professional networking platforms.
• Proficiency with MS Office, ATS and HRIS
• Strong knowledge of HR principles, policies, and procedures, the Employment Standards Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Equity Act, and other related employment legislation
• Comfortable in complex environments and able to move effortlessly between strategic topics and day-to-day HR activities
• Strong integrity and professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality, manage highly sensitive information, and exercise sound judgment in problem resolution.
• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
• Understanding of the financial services industry, its organizational makeup, and the unique positions they often require. Direct Credit Union Experience is considered a plus.
• Proficiency in analyzing, researching, organizing, and prioritizing work while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
