Manager, Acquisitions

Position Summary:

Direct and lead in-depth evaluation and selection of prospective properties and assets for acquisition, disposition or redevelopment and/or at the direction of the VP Development and Construction; provide market intelligence, analysis and interpretation of data, formulating reports and making recommendations based upon the findings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the operational processes for company-wide real estate acquisitions and dispositions within Canada and the USA
  • Seek out potential opportunities and assets to acquire
  • Routinely prepare various proformas for sale, and investment opportunities
  • Hold and conduct routine acquisition meetings with senior management and staff
  • Network, build, and maintain relationships with the real estate community (i.e. brokerages, government authorities, cities, etc.)
  • Lead and manage the entirety of the purchase and sale process from contract negotiation, due diligence research, and closing procedures
  • Draft, prepare, and execute purchase and sale agreements
  • Negotiate with or on behalf of the company the contractual terms of the purchase and sale agreements
  • Distribute acquisition notifications and maintain communication with the President and each respective Vice President
  • Coordinate and carry out due diligence searches for project feasibility (i.e. Zoning, Legal, City Planning Department, trade consultants, lease review, internal reviews and other consultants required for the prospective acquisition)
  • Coordinate and follow through with acquisition closing documents and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Urban Land Economics or similar
  • 3-5 years in real estate development
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks on multiple projects
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to meet deadlines and cut-offs
  • Efficient time management
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Good decision-making ability
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Internet capabilities with ability to navigate and narrow down data to specific requests
  • High analytical and financial skills
  • Computer Skills: Excellent Microsoft Office Skills, Advanced in Excel
